Droptide

Last updated 5 September 2026

Droptide has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of its own. Nothing you do in the pool leaves your device, except an anonymous count of page views on this website and, in the iOS app, the scores you choose to send to Game Center.

What stays on your device

The game remembers a handful of things in your browser's localStorage — on iOS, in the app's own storage. None of it is sent anywhere, and none of it identifies you:

droptide.best, droptide.best.riptide, droptide.best.undertow, droptide.best.auto
Your best score in each of the four modes.
droptide.palette, droptide.muted, droptide.autorate, droptide.mode
Your settings: the colour scheme, whether sound is off, how fast the auto player works, and the mode you played last.
droptide.stats
How many runs you have played, how many merges you have made, how long you have spent playing, and the deepest creature and longest chain you have reached. Shown back to you under Settings → Statistics. Auto runs are not counted.
droptide.install
A single flag, set once you have waved away the offer to install the game to your home screen, so it stops asking.
droptide.store
Whether the purchase is unlocked on this device, and how many free runs of Riptide, Undertow and Auto you have used. It is a cache of an answer Apple gives, not a receipt — see below.
droptide.gamecenter (iOS only)
Scores and achievements that could not be sent to Game Center yet — on a plane, or with no signal — held so they can be retried later. Older versions of the game also kept the counts above in here; they are read out of it once and then live under their own key.

Settings → Reset saved data erases every one of these. It does not erase your Game Center leaderboard entries or achievements: those belong to your Apple account rather than to this device, and are not a settings row's to delete.

What this website counts

The web version is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It records the page, the referrer, and coarse details of the device and country — enough to know whether anyone is playing and on what. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and builds no profile that follows you to other sites. The numbers are aggregate; there is no way back from them to a person.

As with any website, Vercel's servers process your IP address in order to deliver the page at all, and keep short-lived operational logs. That is a condition of the page arriving, not something the game asks for.

The game also asks this site for one small file, version.json, every so often, to notice when a newer build has been deployed. It is a request to this site and nowhere else, and it carries nothing about you.

The iOS app

The App Store version is the same game with no analytics at all. It plays with the aeroplane mode on. The only things it ever talks to are Apple's:

What Droptide never does

Children

Droptide is rated 4+ and is meant to be safe for anyone. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. There is nothing to post, nothing to chat with, and no link out of the game except the ones on these pages.

Your choices

Clearing your browser's site data, or deleting the app, removes everything Droptide has kept. A tracking blocker that stops the analytics beacon breaks nothing — the game does not check whether it arrived. Game Center data is managed in your Apple account settings, and can be removed there.

Because the game holds no personal information, there is generally nothing to request a copy of or ask us to delete. If you believe otherwise, or you want to ask about any of this, write to support@unhero.com and we will answer.

Changes

If what the game collects ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. There is no mailing list to notify, by design.
